Our client Bobby will soon be released after spending 11 years in prison, all of it in solitary confinement.

Bobby was sentenced to a total of 32 years for various offenses, including evading arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, but after a recent hearing where we presented evidence of his growth and rehabilitation, a decision was made within 24 hours to grant his early release.

We think that kind of response speaks volumes. It shows that the Parole Board saw what we saw: that Bobby is a genuinely changed man.

We don’t want to minimize the offenses Bobby was convicted of, but people are more than the worst thing they’ve ever done, especially after years (in isolation) of reflection, accountability, and personal growth.

And here’s the great thing: Bobby has a loving support network, his parents’ home waiting for him, a job lined up, and a real opportunity to rebuild his life. So he won’t need any further help from us once released and we have no doubt that he will succeed in life moving forward.

This is exactly why we do what we do: because sentences in Texas are often disproportionate, and because people are capable of real, meaningful change.

More updates and info soon as we prepare for his release in 2 months.
