CYF Statement: Our Client Troy Granted Parole

The Clinton Young Foundation is thrilled to share that our client, Troy D., has been approved for parole. Troy was serving a 15-year sentence for a non-violent theft—not a robbery, and no one was injured. After five years in custody, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recognized his growth, accountability, and readiness to reenter the community.

Troy already has a job waiting for him, which means he’ll need little to no reentry support from us beyond standard logistics. This is exactly what proportional justice should look like: real accountability without lifelong punishment for a low-level, non-violent offense.

We’re proud of Troy’s hard work and grateful to everyone who supported him—family, volunteers, and community partners. CYF will remain available to assist with final steps as a release date is set by TDCJ. Moments like this reaffirm our mission: to fight wrongful convictions and excessive sentences, and to help people come home ready to thrive.
